Stylus for iPad

This is a blog about what not to buy.

I have had two ozaki (and yes I am writing it in small letters as it doesn't deserve a capital letter to start with) pens over the last few months.

These are the ozaki pen's with the metal mesh type tip this is by far the worst stylus for durability you can buy.

What it is:

it is absolutely phenomenal for drawing etc. but it just doesn't last.

So before you even think to buy this pen, make sure you scan you slip, as you will be using it.  I wish it would last as it is great for writing but sadly durability is key especially in a country like South Africa where you pay around R400 (26 pounds) for one from you know who, dare I say they are not so incredible as they should be.

Short but sweet. So think twice, scan your payslip make sure you have it with you in  a few months after purchase.

Ever changing social media - the full circle

Just-Released-TheBrain-7.pngI have been doing much research the last few weeks on social media and what to use.

There are so many tools out there. It seems like my life has made a full circle since 2006 when I acquired "the brain" software. Back then it was only version 2 but it was remarkable. With everything that was going on over the last 3 years it seemed that it was sensible for me to move more and more of my info to the cloud. And it was great.

The problem was this, the more tools the more time it takes to get to know to get stuck in a specific type of system. If you are anything like me I love new toys and software etc. I've come to realize what a real time waster this is.

With the new tablets coming out with Windows 8 on it, I will be moving fully to "the brain" as nothing comes even close to it. Yes there are some workarounds I need as I love Evernote and Google Docs, but for keeping information together The Brain cooks. Do yourself a favour have a look at it.

If you want it you are even more than welcome to contact me I have a good long standing relationship with them for many years. Heck I would even give advice on how to use it. http://www.thebrain.com/

O yes and they've just released Version 7... and they are talking about Android and iOS apps too.

Your photos in a safe place. Backup strategies.

In the digital realm nothing exists unless it is in two places at once  This was one of the first things they told us in our first year of studies in computer programming in 1991.  Ask anyone who has had a hard drive crash and lost his photos and work, if it isn't in two places at once it is as good as not existing at all.  I've learned how true this statement is many years ago, and try to avoid loosing information at all cost.

One thing that comes up continually is people asking me about how exactly you would back up all your photos.  If you want to save your 10-15 mega pixel photos this post is probably not for you as in Picasa you can save for free up to 2048*2048.  This for me is big enough for backup purposes   This post is aimed at families that want to save and backup their photos to a safe place.
