Google Drive and Word

Most people struggle with backup up their documents.  If you 've lost your documents before you know what a pain that can be.  There are various problems in regards to documents like: How to send it where, and where to keep it.  Enter Google Drive (google docs old version).  On Google Drive you can store your documents, you have at least 7 gig of space on Google Drive for Word,Excel,Presentation etc documents.  For most people this will be more than enough.

Where to find this service: Google Drive

If you already have a gmail account it is quite simple you just log in, and have access to it.  You can also install the Google Drive App on your PC or Mac and have it sync the documents to your computer so that it is available offline.  You can also just drop files into the folder that Google Drive App creates to send it to the web.

This blog gives a quick overview on how to sign up etc.  Blog on how to sign up to Google Drive

There are various other options to store documents and sync it to all your pc's like DropBox, which is software that is widely used all over the world.  It really depends what you want to do, and how you want to use it.  I personally like drobbox as well and use it for files I want to sync between computers.  It is easy to understand and get to work.  No problems at all.  Quite simple.

Google Cloud Connect (for Microsoft to Google Drive App)
I took my dad over too google docs/Google Drive that syncs up with Word on his computer. This creates a backup of the document straight away. Plus you ca access it from everywhere.

google-cloud-connect
It is called google cloud connect, once you've loaded it on your PC it will install itself into your Microsoft Office programs and you will have a button to press to upload it to your Google Docs account.  Here is where you can download Google Cloud Connect.https://tools.google.com/dlpage/cloudconnect/

O for all of this to work, get a Google account.  Just type in www.gmail.com and get yourself a free google gmail account, or create an account with your current email you have, but I really suggest to get a free gmail account.  Once you have that you are 1 step away from having a free Google Drive account where you can upload all your files to for free - as far as I know up to 7 Gig's, don't worry with Word documents you might never get there...lol

Now that you have your gmail account, just install the Google Cloud Connect, and log in when it asks, here is a more detailed description

And this is how you deploy it:

Here is a video showing you how

The little girl is my daughter Taia and she already has her own gmail account. My wife email her constantly about funny things she does. One day we will give her the login.  Great thing is that when I use instant upload on the G+ app on my phone, I share the photo with her already.  This gets synced to her account automatically and one day she can just flip through the photos in order.
