For those who don't know Picasa from Google, and yes I am talking about Google yet again. Google has most of their applications working together and Picasa is one of them.
Picasa is a web album for you to use for free. If you upload photos under 2048*2048 it is open for unlimited amount of photos. Yes unlimited. For all practical reasons you would probably never need bigger sizes than that unless you are going to be printing large photos as in the size of an A2 etc.
For videos under 15 min it is also free. Should you want to upload larger photos or videos you have 1 Gig free and you can buy extra space.
I personally don't need my photos to be bigger.
Picasa also as a very good Desktop Application/Program that you can use to import photo and videos from all your applications. From the desktop app you can do all your uploads, how big you want to photos to be etc. It is a very good application.
On the web you can tell which photos or albums you want to share with whom, people can comment on the photos, you can tag etc. For me this is far better than having your photos on say Facebook. This is a proper album that is secure, and you can share with who you want.
You can also do basic editing on your photos and play around with them.
I also have a very good way of keeping a diary of nice things that happen through the day. I use G+ from Google for that. I have a circle which is a personal one, it is only the people in my family at home who are part of that circle. Whenever I see something nice I just post a comment, take a photo, and add the location. Done and add a comment if I want to. But usually a pic is worth a thousand words..lol
That is it, now I have a diary of what happens daily. It gets shared with the people I want it to be shared. It gets uploaded to my Picasa account automatically. I can share it with other people should I want to. This is very simple and a great way to document your life for yourself. I for one like the simplicity of this setup.
There are many other ways to do it, but my choice lies with Google as all my apps work together. Picasa for me is a full blown photo album, and just that. G+ is some type of a social sharing application that you can use in the way you want to use it, and have the people involved you want involved. Then you have Google Drive, Google Aps, Gmail, Google Reader, and Youtube - and they all work together. I know that Google is working on getting this to work even closer together so I am excited about this platform.
Test it out, play around with it. It is worth your while to upload your photos so that you won't loose it....
